Carole is influenced by nineteenth century Devonshire slipware and Staffordshire slipware of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and handling one of her generously large mugs with their honey glaze and jewel-like decoration is like stepping back into another century.

Not only does Carole excel in using natural forms for decoration (tulips, apples, thrushes, owls), she also creates mugs with a mixture of mottoes and sayings.

As well as single motto mugs Little Brown Mug has also specially commissioned pairs of mugs with quotations on the subject of love and marriage begun on one mug and completed on the other.
